Capacitor and Types of Capacitors

What is capacitor?

Capacitor is an electronic component that stores electric charge. The capacitor is made of 2 close conductors (usually plates) that are separated by a dielectric material. The plates accumulate electric charge when connected to power source. One plate accumulates positive charge and the other plate accumulates negative charge
The capacitor capacitance is measured in units of Farad (F).

Bearing and Types of Bearings

What is bearing ?

Bearing is a machine element that have constrained relative motion and use for reduces friction between moving parts of machine to obtain desired motion. We can say that the machine elements which support the rotating parts of a machine and reduce friction are called bearing

The word bearing is derived from the verb “to bear”. A bearing is a machine element that allows one part to bear another. The main functions of bearings are
  • To reduce friction between moving rotatory parts.
  • To support rotating parts of a machine.
  • To bear radial and thrust load

Measuring and Types of Measuring Tools

What is measuring tool ?

A measuring tool is a device to measure a physical quantity. In the physical sciences, quality assurance, and engineering, measurement is the activity of obtaining and comparing physical quantities of real-world objects and events.

Metal and Types of Metals

What is Metal ?

A metal is a material that, when freshly prepared, polished, or fractured, shows a lustrous appearance, and conducts electricity and heat relatively well. Metals are typically ductile and malleable. These properties are the result of the metallic bond between the atoms or molecules of the metal

Spring and Types of springs

What is Mechanical Spring?

A Mechanical Spring is a device that can also be defined as an elastic or resilient member, whose main function is to deflect under the action of load and recovers it’s original shape when the load is removed. It also used for storing energy.

Spring Materials:

Springs are made of the following materials:

Hard drawn wire: These are general purpose spring, where we need low-temperature resistance and low stress we can use these types of spring material

Stainless Steel: Nowadays stainless steel is widely used in making of spring

Phosphor Bronze: These types of spring are used in Electrical industry due to the material have good electrical conductivity and good resistance to corrosion

Chrome Silicon: This type of spring can be used in high temperature up to 250-degree celsius

Chrome Vanadium: These types of spring have good thermal conductivity up to 220-degree Celsius and also has good fatigue resistance

Graphite epoxy: It is used in high strength spring such as leaf spring

Carbon epoxy: It is made of carbon fibre, and have the ability to bear a high load, this material is also used in high strength applications like automobile, and locomotive.

Sprocket and Types of sprockets

What is sprocket?

Sprocket is a simple mechanical wheel with teeth or small notches which are designed to rotate and engage with the links of a chain or belt. To be compatible, though, they both need to have the same thickness and pitch.

Calculating the sprocket ratio :

This is the number of teeth on the driving sprocket divided by the number of teeth on the driven sprocket.

Example: Front sprocket on has 10 teeth and the rear sprocket has 30, the sprocket ratio is 10/30 = 1/3 = 1:3 or 3

Rivet and Types of Rivets

What is rivet?

Rivet is a  mechanical fastener to join two or more materials. A rivet consists of a head at one end and a cylindrical body at the other end, called its shaft. The tapered end of the shaft is called the rivet’s tail

Washer and Types of washers

What is washer ?

Washer is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped, but sometimes square) with a hole (typically in the middle) that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt or nut

Flat thin ring or a perforated plate used in joints or assemblies to ensure tightness, prevent leakage, or relieve friction

Purpose of the washers are :

1. Load distribution

2. Spacing

3. Vibration absorption

4. Prevent leakage

5. Relieving friction

6. Ensure tightness

Fastener and Types of Fasteners

What is fastener?

Fastener is a non-permanent or permanent mechanical tool that rigidly connects or affixes two surfaces or objects together. Non-permanent fasteners can easily be removed without damaging the joined materials. The removal of permanent fasteners might require substantial force and might damage the connected surfaces. Permanent fasteners are designed to be a long lasting form of secure connection

Material of a Fastener are :

1. Carbon Steel Fasteners

2. Stainless Steel Fasteners

3. Aluminum Fasteners

4. Titanium Fasteners

5. Brass and Bronze Fasteners

6. Non-metallic Fasteners

Drill Bit and Types of Drill Bits

What is drill bit ?

Drill bit is cutting tools used in a drill to remove material to create holes, almost always of circular cross-section. Drill bits are come in many sizes and shapes and can create different kinds of holes in many different materials.

Materials used to make drill bits:

1.Carbon Steel

2.High Speed Steel (HSS)

3.Cobalt Steel

4.Tungsten Carbide

5.Polycrystalline Diamond

What is Pump and types of pump ?

What is a Pump?

A Pump is a mechanical device that uses to transfer different fluids from one location to another. It is a hydraulic device that lifts fluids from low to high levels, and moves fluids from low to high-pressure areas. The pump transfers fluid by converting the fluid’s mechanical energy into pressure energy (hydraulic energy).

 Types of Pump

1. Positive Displacement Pump

2. Reciprocating Pumps

3.Rotary Pump

4. Pneumatic Pump

5.Dynamic Pump

6.Centrifugal Pumps

7.Vertical Centrifugal Pumps

PSM alam 2 and SPM alarm 59

How to reset PSM ( Power supply module) alarm no 2 and SPM ( Spindle amplifier module) alarm no 59 ?

Remedy:- Check for PSM internal cooling fan if it is not working then this alarm will come,Replaced PSM internal cooling fan

PSM internal cooling fan show in above Picture

Fan motor stop alarm

Remedy:- Check HMI cooling fan motor for work condition if found faulty replaced otherwise Cooling fan remove or reinsert

Spindle serial link error alarm

Description: This alarm is generated when the spindle control unit is not ready for starting correctly when the power is turned on in the system with the serial spindle. The four reasons can be considered as follows:

An improperly connected optical cable or the spindle control unit’s power is OFF.

When the NC power was turned on under alarm conditions other than SU–01 or AL–24 which are shown on the LED display of the spindle control unit. In this case, turn the spindle amplifier power off once and perform startup again.

Other reasons (improper combination of hardware) This alarm does not occur after the system including the spindle control unit is activated.

The second spindle (when SP2, bit 4 of parameter No. 3701, is 1) is in one of the above conditions 1to 3). See diagnostic display No. 409 for details.

432 X AXIS CNV LOW VOLTAGE CONTROL ALARM

 1.  X Axis control voltage low alarm

Remedy:- 1. Check alarm on Power supply module (PSM) if got alarm no 6 on PSM check PSM cooling fan if found cooling fan is faulty ,Replaced the PSM cooling fan otherwise remove and reinsert

2. Replaced PSM fuse

2. SPN 1 S- Spindle error alarm

Remedy:-

1.Check Spindle module working condition, In display light should be glow

2. Check cooling fan of PSM or Spindle module should be working
